Since it is officially Summer now, I have been bringing out some lip colours that have not seen the light of day for a few months; and even the odd new purchase (naughty me)!
Since July was mainly eye related posts, I thought I would do a new post involving my favourite lip colours that I think will look amazing in the Summer. Plum colours and nudes, to me are for the Autumn and Winter months. It just goes better with the darker clothing trending during that season. In the next few months I will be wearing a lot of bright things on my lips; reds, pinks, coral... Not a plum in sight!
So what are my nine favourite bright Summer shades?
Revlon Colour Burst Lip Butter in Strawberry Shortcake
These do retail at £7.99, but are often included in offers at Boots and Superdrug, so look out for a bargain if you want to buy a few of these.
YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 34
Although they are a slight bit more pricey than my usual lipstick £25; yikes!
However, the colour payoff and wearability is totally worth the splurge. I just wore this lip stick into town for a bit of shopping and it survived one starbucks coffee and my lip biting addiction. It still looked like it had been freshly applied.
Shade 34 does have blue undertones, so this gorgeous deep pink does make teeth look whiter. Once again, this is a moisturising lipstick, so prepare for some gorgeous lip therapy throughout the day!
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lacquer in Fuschia Flash
I love the Pure Colour Lip Lacquers, and I think Fuschia Flash is an ideal colour for Summer on fair skin.
This is very glossy and can transfer to teeth if you're not careful, but I just love the texture and the wearability of this range. Like the YSL lipstick, this one does have blue undertones, and will make your teeth look extremely white (when they haven't got pink on them).
These do retail at £21.50, so it is slightly cheaper than the YSL lipstick.
Benefit Lip Colour in Dare Me
This does apply quite glossy at first, but does mattify throughout the day if you prefer a silky matte lip.
Even if you don't like Dare Me; it might be too red for your tastes. Air Kiss, Juicy Details and Tutti-Cutie are also lovely colours for the Summer. At only £15, they are one of the cheaper premium beauty lip products on this list.
L'Oreal Color Riche in Burning Rose
L'Oreal make some beautiful lip products, and the color riche collection have been one of my go-to lipsticks since it's launch. This is an intense, bright red with a delicate silk finish. The image does make this look very glossy, however it doesn't look glossy in reality. I tend to wear this on neutral eye days if I don't feel brave enough to go full vamp on my lips. And let's face it, vampy belong to Winter. I just feel that this pretty, although intense red makes my lips look really healthy and glamorous.
And at only £8.19, it's a healthy option for your bank account too.
No7 Sheer Temptation in Lovely
No7, I'll admit are not my favourite brand for lipsticks. Like the Revlon lip butters, they can be a bit waxy and too sheer.
The shade Lovely is a pretty, neutral glossy pink that can be layered up to give a pigmented finish to the lips, however you do need to work the product into your lips to prevent it looking waxy. They don't last very long on the lips, so you will have to keep it in your bag if you are going out.
I know I haven't painted the best image of this lipstick, but I do love the colour and haven't found a similar shade in another brand yet.
This does retail at only £9.75 in Boots, so if you do prefer a sheerer finish to your lips this is a decent recommendation.
Maybelline Colour Sensational in Fatal Red
Although this does have a beautiful silky finish that looks amazing when it is first applied, this will wear away throughout the day quite quickly. If you want your red lip to last just keep it in your 'Sweaty Yeti' bag.
This gorgeous red lip stick retails at £7.19.
Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy in Defiant Coral
As you know, this was the only lipstick that made it onto the plane. Everytime I use this it just reminds me of cocktails by the pool and the most amazing seafood I have ever tasted.
If, like me, you are terrified of a vivid orange lip but still want to rock coral during the Summer, this is the best one. Yes it is £24 but totally worth it. They last ages and give an almost glossy finish to your lips and still make you look sophisticated.
YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick in 31
I love this one for exactly the same reasons as with shade 34 so I won't say the same things again.
All I will say however, is how intensely pink is this shade??? It is so gorgeous and amazing for a night time or daytime look. Love it!
I quite enjoyed trying out all these different lipsticks, so if you would like me to do anything similar, but with lipglosses, let me know.
I will be posting my July favourites on Thursday.
Bye for now!
