Film (Cinema Release)
Oh my God! This movie made me cry so much. I think the last film to cause me to shed bucket loads of tears was the Green Mile in 1999! So 15 years? That's a long time to go without crying at a movie.
I hadn't read the book before this. When I heard it was narrated by Death I did think, "okay, this is a fantasy book for teenagers." And at the time a lot of people were reading Twilight, so I honestly thought I would find it boring. Well never judge a completely different book by what is popular at the time! The film completely took me by surprise, it is so cleverly done and extremely sympathetic to the historical events it portrays. If you haven't seen it, it's about a young girl in Nazi Germany who helps her family hide a Jewish man from the Nazis. Very, very emotional! Plus, it's always great when you come across something that gives a different viewpoint of history. How often do we think about how the German public viewed the war?
If you haven't seen this movie yet, give it a watch. Well worth the fortune you will spend on tissues!
Film (Netflix)
What is it with me and sinister movies lately?
I still can't believe that this is based (loosely) on real events in America! From about 10minutes into this movie I was on the edge of my seat thinking "What the f**k did I just watch??"
The film is based on some pretty nasty mind control experiments America allegedly conducted on it's citizens in the 60s, if not earlier. If this actually happened, this is terrifying!
The film is rather short, but definitely worth the watch if you want something that will make you think and question those emails you get sent asking you to volunteer for medical experiments.
Fashion- Clothing
So Spring is officially here in my head! The weather is warming up which means the cooler dresses are coming out, and our cardigans and jumpers are beginning to take a back-seat.
Plus, thanks to a lot of training at the gym and a better nutrition I have now dropped 3 dress sizes so none of my old jeans and shirts fit me anymore. Not good although I'm not complaining.
I went clothes shopping the other week and saw this gorgeous dress at Dorothy Perkins. It is a pretty faded pink colour with a see-through stripe along the bottom. The pleats are well placed and give your hips a bit more curviness. I bought this for £35 and I don't regret it. My waist looks tiny in it and I can't wait to take this dress on holiday and wear it with a pair of white pumps.
I'll leave a link to the dress below if you want to check out some similar styles on the website. There were quite a few, but I just loved the light colour of this one.
Fashion- Shoes
Nooo! Why did I have to look on the website??? These are now on sale! I paid £23.50 when they had an offer on the shoes in Marks and Spencers. They are now only £19.00. Damn shops and their amazingly quick sales!
Anyway, these boots are gorgeous and very comfortable to wear on an everyday basis. I have wore these pretty much every day with either a pair of jeans or a skater style dress.
They are just so comfortable even though the heel is quite thin. And I may need to get the navy blue ones now if they are only £19. Hmmmm, decisions decisions!
Fashion- Jewellery
Her website is called healing earth, so as the name suggests it is a healing crystal brand, but even if you are not into healing crystals and New Age stuff the jewellery is amazing. She is just so talented and so friendly. Everything is made by herself so everything is slightly unique which is why I love this necklace and earrings set so much.
They go lovely with that pink Dorothy Perkins dress too!
Book
Okay, if you read what my favourite film was, this should come as no surprise. I ordered the book for my kindle straight away (it was only 99p) and read it.
Just like the movie, this did make me cry, but I always cry at sad books just because I get so attached to the characters and their stories. I cried at 50 shades of Grey for goodness sake!
The film follows the story so well. Only thing I would advise is, don't order this for the kindle paperwhite. Their is some handwritten pages which are impossible to read on the kindle, so this may be one where the paper copy would be better I'm afraid.

TV
I loved the books, lived in the area for two years, and love the series. The third series has been really nice but so sad. I haven't had a chance to watch the final episode yet, so hopefully I can watch this tonight. No spoilers please in the comments.
Oh and I am working on a MAC palette look book blog, so watch this space.
