There are some old favourites and a lot of new things too, so let's get started!
I was shade matched, and in this formula I am one of the lightest shades; Bare Shell. I would definitely recommend getting colour matched for this because the shades are so different it does take a lot of swatching to get it right. Bare Shell is definitely my perfect shade for winter, and is easy to warm up with a bit of bronzer if needs be. Just two drops is enough to give me a medium coverage for my skin, since it seems to be behaving at the moment.
The foundation does apply slightly greasy at first, but once it's settled it has a semi matte finish. So don't be put off by the feel of it, it does calm down pretty quickly. And once it has settled, it feels like you have nothing on your skin; it just feels so natural.
The brush seems to either be a love or hate item in the beauty world. I've read a lot of negative reviews about it, and I can be their points. However, this is a good brush for this foundation. It buffers the product in perfectly without creating streaky marks that a lot of foundation brushes tend to make on me. This is a great combo if you are looking for a light feeling foundation.
Wow- that was a rant and a half! On to the next item!
I have just been having so much fun experimenting with all the different shades that I've collected so far.
MAC eyeshadows are some of my favourites. They are just so easy to blend and have such a variety of shades; you can create a lot of different looks really easily. I will be doing another MAC inspired eye look book soon. I was going to post it earlier, but all my photos for it got deleted. Woopsie! I will post it during the beginning of October, hopefully.
By the way can anyone recommend any more COLOURED mac eyeshadows- I have eight pans left to fill and I need help picking some shades guys.
I did buy some Nars Eyeshadows, but they weren't for me. I kept the Blush because there was no way I was giving my Mam a blusher called 'Deep Throat!'
Crazy name aside- this blush shade is amazing and has a gorgeous bright pink shimmer that applies quite natural to the cheeks.
By the way, does anyone else think that this is an amazing size for a sample?
It does suit all skin types (apparently), and it has not caused any breakouts on my skin so far, which is a great achievement for any face mask on my skin!
I'm usually set in my ways with brushes and won't try anything new, however I saw a Wayne Goss ( aka GossMakeupArtist) video surrounding blusher application a few weeks ago and it has changed my life!
Okay, not as dramatic as that, but it has changed how I apply blusher; which let's be honest, I'm crap at! Now Wayne came up with a tip on there using a fan brush.
A fan brush? Not a fluffy rounded blusher brush? You know, the ones designed for blusher!?
They were rarely in the video. Most of the techniques used a fan brush- it was really weird but it helps to evenly apply a light layer of blush over your cheek bones.
Now to get to my original point; to carry out this tip I have been loving the Fan Brush that came in my much loved First Resort kit. It is just the softest brush and is the perfect size for my cheek bones.
And yes, it's Bare Minerals related (who'd have thought)! I love the loose powder blushers anyway, and this is a perfect colour for people who are scared of blush but want a hint of colour on their cheeks.
This is the shade Kiss. It is a beautiful neutral pink with a hint of shimmer, so yes, no need for a highlight when you wear this. But don't worry- you won't get sparkly cheeks. The colour seems to distribute and hide the sparkle, so it gives out a healthy glow to the cheeks rather than Prom Night sparkle.
The colour does wear out pretty quickly, but its an easy lippie to apply as the bullet is curved to shape around your lips, making it quick to apply even without a mirror!
Still just me. Okay then.
But anyway, my favourite is the Queen Greatest Hits Platinum Collection. It has every single one of my favourite songs in there; even some of the obscure ones from Highlander. I picked this upat HMV for about £10. Not bad for 3 CDs!
These were pretty cheap; around about £15 or less, but they are good quality and go with most outfits in my wardrobe.
My final beauty/ body favourite is a body spray. One of the girls at work had this the other day and we all became obsessed with the smell. It is an Impulse Spray called 'Sweet Smile,' which apparently has elements of Jasmine and Pear in it.
It just smells so fresh and gorgeous, and last such a long time. Since it does smell so nice, it has actually replaced my Hugo Boss Jour Pour Femme perfume in my handbag.
It's retailing at under £2, so definitiely a cheaky little cheap one to keep in your handbag for the odd moments where you want a smelly boost (insert better description words here)!
That's everything.
What have you guys been loving this month? Let me know.
Bye for now!
