It is definitely no secret that I love Bare Minerals Makeup. I find that it feels lovely on my skin and has stopped my face feeling like sandpaper. Of course there are things within the brand that I'm not keen on (shock horror!) but I'l reveal them as I come to them.
So yes, on with this rather long blog post. Sorry if you don't like my longer posts, but this was always going to be a long one! I have named everything in the photos; when it comes to which one is which, they go from left to right.
And sorry if you don't like the headers. Just trying something new rather than saying Foundation, Concealers, Eyeshadows and so on and so on!
First up: The Face!
Definitely one of the best long lasting foundation combos that I have ever used! However, the new foundation is reaching stores soon, so I may use that to compare the two next month.
Blushing Blushers
There are so many different shades of blusher in both the Original loose powders and the Ready collection that do suit every skin tone. I like muted pinks and peach shades on my cheeks, so I am slowly working my way through these shades at the moment.
Joyous Jennifer, is not the greatest blush on my cheeks, however it makes a gorgeous eyeshadow.
So Much Marvelous Moxie!
Clearly, I'm obsessed with these lipglosses. So much so; I have two of Party Starter and didn't realise! This is my favourite neutral coral for summer. Game changer is a gorgeous glossy red that gives enough pigment, you don't need a lipstick. I know I say this in every blog that mentions the marvelous moxie lipglosses, but these are sooo moisturising, they are a necessity for dry lips.
Lipstick, camera, action!
If you want a long lasting, moisturising lipstick these are for you! They have such amazing bright colours and look so glossy and healthy. I love them. My favourite Summer shade has been Never Say Never, which is a beautiful fuchsia shade.
It's all in the eyeliner
I am a little hit and miss with the liners. I find that the lasting liners can be a bit of a struggle to apply, although they look nice if you take the time with the product. I preferred the old Round the Clock liners, although they are very creamy and smudge easily.
NOTE: Although at the moment, I think the hot weather has loosened the formula in the Lasting Liners as they are beginning to apply a lot easier.
Oh so natural!
I got this in a Collection at Christmas. They are not as moisturizing as the new Marvelous Moxie Collection, but I love the pretty plum shade in this lipgloss. It goes really well with my Live Large Lipstick. However, I would suggest using a lip brush as the applicator for this gloss is tiny!
Conceal, don't feel! Don't let them know!
Yes, three different concealers. All get used!
Light 2, the cream concealer is a nice one for blemishes on fair skin. I don't use it too much because it doesn't work really well with the Ready foundation. It may get used more once I buy the New liquid foundation, as I have heard that it goes better with that.
Stroke of Light is amazing for under eye circles. It is so creamy and perfect for fair skin.
Summer bisque sets everything in place and gives just that little extra hint of warmth.
Big, beautiful lashes
I have one in black, and one in brown. These give gorgeous natural looking, longer lashes. They don't clump at all!
Lash Domination is used on the days where I need to make my lashes stand out against a colourful eyeshadow (purple).
It's Prime Time!
These have such gorgeous pearly finishes that are more expensive versions of Maybelline Colour Tattoos. I tend to use Sundance and the Brightening primer on a daily basis. The others are darker than you expect so are great for an evening look. Urban Nature is the funkiest combination of purples, blues, blacks and greens I've ever seen; it seems to change colour on the lid! I don't wear it often, but if I do I tend to wear this with a black liner and a dramatic mascara.
My least favourite, strangely, is bronzed twig. It tends to look more black than brown on my eyes, making me look a bit panda-eyed. It is ok as a thin layer, but you do really need to blend it well to make it look right.
So many palettes!
I love a good palette, and these tend to be what I'll spend my money on if I want to treat myself on payday. I am trying to branch out of safe neutrals, and I do have a lot of coloured palettes within my Bare Minerals stash. The A-List is my most recent purchase and they are gorgeous purples and pinks that look amazing with a black eyeliner.
The Elements is also a lovely palette for colour and so unusual with the three cooler tones and one warm shade.
My favourite palette will always be the True Romantic. It is just a gorgeous combination of bronze and pink that looks flattering on any skin tone.
My least favourite is the Affair to Remember. Even though there are eight shades to choose from, they are way too similar so I find that I can't really build up a smokey eye using just this palette. If I do want more of a smoky eye I will use this with some of the loose powders.
My most famous blog post
To this date, whenever I look at my monthly stats, my review on the First resort collection is always number one for most looked at post. That was even before I created my top 4 posts on the home page.
This is still a well loved bronzer which I use every day to give my pale skin some colour. This was limited edition, but I do believe it is still sold in Sephora and QVC. If not there are the Ready Palettes which has similar shades to this in the constant collection.
It's lipliner!
I bought this lip liner for my Christmas party to go with the Live Large lipstick. I'll admit, I don't like this edition to the Marvelous Moxie lip products.
Where the glosses and lipsticks are moisturising, this can be very drying, so I would not wear this on a daily basis. Save it for a night when you want your lip colour to last a long time, and look dramatic.
Revved is a gorgeous plum shade that can be blended all over the lips if you prefer. Just make sure you prep your lips with a chap stick first to give them a little extra moisture.
Pressed down powder
This was my free gift during the Bare Minerals event last week. It is a pressed powder that uses a thick wand to apply to the lids. When I saw this I thought it would be a silky brown shade. It is not! It's purple. A very dark purple. This terrified me the first time I used it, however once I realised how dark it is, I use this very lightly on the outer lid and crease with a pink shade over the lid; which means it goes amazingly with the A-List palette.
The New Kids on the Block
You have heard me rave on about these far too much throughout July. You know that I love them. Enough said.
EPIC PHOTO FAIL!!!
oops! Better clean that up before it sets.
After the necessary cleanup.... The loose ones!
Welcome to my obsession with the loose shades! These are some of my favourite eyeshadows in all of my collections. The colours are just so pigmented, and believe it or not, for a loose powder they have very little fallout. They feel very creamy when blended onto the lid, and there is a amassive selection of different finishes. As you can see I am obsessed with sparkly shades. Although I do have some matte finishes for crease work.
Celery has been my recent favourite for Summer along with Heart. Not together of course, however looking at them next to each other, it may actually work.
I love Sex Kitten for a dramatic brown smoky eye, although now I have considerably less of this shade!
I don't have a least favourite. All have their purposes, and I have covered a lot of them in previous eye tutorials. I may do another one in the future since I know that very first one I did was crap. I rushed the looks and it did look really bad.
The next list will be all about what's in my posh makeup bag, which is stuff that I save for very special occasions.
Bye for now!
