I'm always a little dubious of reviewing skincare products because it can take a little while for any issues to show up. However I have been using this every day for about a month and a half, so I'm pretty confident that I can review this properly.
This is the Biolucent Mineral Brightening Treatment which is a relatively new serum from Bare Minerals, it was launched around January this year. It is advertised on the website as a product that can:
- Diminish dark spots and discolouration, and helps reduce new spots forming.
- Smoothes out skin tone and texture
- Illuminates the skin.
Quite a lot of things to come out of one bottle!
Yes, this is expensive, however it's not compared to other high end brand serums. Estee Lauder's Idealist serum is £58 and Lancome's Genifique is £59. Serums are generally expensive products and do claim to have lots of benefits to go with your investment. So does Biolucent do all it claims to do?
The second claim of preventing new spots appearing is an interesting one. Yes I have noticed some reduction in the spots around my nose. However, I do still get the odd blemish around my chin.
The third claim that it smoothes out skin tone and texture is 100% correct. Any bit of rough skin that was left on my face has gone. It feels silky smooth, which makes foundation a lot easier to apply. It has a gentle exfoliating quality that over time does remove any rough patches, leaving your skin the same smooth texture all over. I do not exfoliate at all since I've started using this. It would just be too much for my skin to handle.
The final claim is that it it illuminates your skin. I put a small amount of the product on half of my hand in the above photo. This is what happens once it has absorbed into the skin. One side looks like a light is shining on it, and the other looks hidden in shadow. My light was switched off and the camera did not flash. It leaves a subtle glow which shines through foundation. It just makes my skin look really healthy.
I have been using this every day for the past month and a half. Is it worth spending £39 on?
Hell yes!
If you have dry or sensitive skin, this is a nice product to help work with your moisturiser to help even out any dry patches and help your skin look a lot healthier. If you are going to buy any serums, give either this or the Active Cell renewal a whirl. They are a lot cheaper than other serums, and do a lot more for your skin.
Bye for now!
