This is basically the one where you really can't be bothered wearing to much makeup. Maybe it's a day where you're feeling ill, or the joyous periods (TMI) or even a day when you're a bit tearful. Maybe even all three at once; It happens!
For me, these are the days that I'm having a pretty bad cold. My eyes get sore and watery so contacts are a no-go, and so is a nice smoky eye. What's the point? it's going to smudge pretty quickly.
So here is a pretty easy makeup tutorial for those days where you're just feeling a bit crap.
Seriously, don't do this! If you layer up it will draw attention to the fact that you are feeling crap. I used 2 layers of the Original foundation. It was enough to cover the majority of the redness, but still let a natural flush shine through. For really stubborn redness (blemishes) use a tiny bit of concealer (Lancome Long Lasting Softening Concealer/ Bare Minerals Summer Bisque).
For under-eye puffiness or dark circles, I have been using this Garnier Roller-ball BB Cream. It soothes the area and adds a nice tint to counteract any darkness under the eyes.
Yet, still going with the less is more theme, I diffuse my colours using a fan brush so there is less of a concentration of colour. They just give a healthy glow.
For bronzer, I used a tiny bit of Bare Minerals Warmth and Blush was a deep pink shade called Flsuhed from The Body Shop.
Now, I love a smoky eye, however if your eyes are watering or itchy, there really is no point! All that hard work will be smudged to death in a few hours.
Keep the eyes simple with just a wash of colour on a fluffy eyeshadow brush. If the eye area if red or puffy stay away from pinks or red-toned browns; even purples. All these shades will make your eyes look even sorer. Any other colour will look fine.
First prime the lids with your favourite eyeshadow primer (MAC's Paintpot in Painterly). Then sweep the colour over the lid (Bare Minerals Connoisseur).
Finally, mascara. I went with YSL's Baby Doll Mascara. It kept my lashes looking lengthened yet still natural. Preferably, use a waterproof mascara; but I am allergic to something in those mascaras. if you can though, wear it.It will help with the watery eye moments; if you get them.
On my crap days lips is where is get a bit more bold. Even in Winter a bright, bold lip is needed on these days. Lately I have been using a No. 7 Stay Perfect lipstick in the shade Loganberry. Just layer on as much as you feel comfortable with!
Yes, my hair is a bit messy, but on these days my hair usually gets styled in a messy bun.
